The Nikolaevskiy Mine was opened in 1982 and very quickly became known as one of the world's premier localities for sulfide minerals. Hosted in limestone, the cavities contain superb specimens of sphalerite, galena, calcite, fluorite, pyrrhotite, and ilvaite.
This specimen features highly fluorescent manganoan calcite stacked on a bed of sphalerite, with small cuboctohedral galena intergrown to the sphalerite. The specimen naturally displays aesthetically.
