Quartz + Calcite - Batantsi deposit, Batantsi Mine, Madan Municipality, Smolyan Province, Bulgaria

$75.00

Madan is a large Pb-Zn-Ag mining district comprised of over 40 different operations. The anceint deposit has only most heavily been exploited in the last half a century, leading to many fine quality sulfide mineral specimens. The Batantsi Mine is particularly known for its unique and good quality rhodochrosites.

This specimen is a bed of needle quartz with "puffballs" of pale pink calcite scattered throughout. A thin sheet of sulfides can be seen on the edge of the matrix. The specimen displays naturally quite well, giving the appeal of a gentle valley of crystals.

(4.5 x 3.5 x 1.5 in - 11.4 x 8.9 x 3.8 cm - 13.9oz - 393g)

Thank You for Viewing! All orders ship weekly on Monday. For questions or more photos, please reach out directly. Display stand not included.
