Fluorite + Muscovite - Erongo Mountains, Karibib Constiuency, Erongo region, Namibia, Africa
The Erongo Mountains are a mineral rich area approximately 30Km in diameter, comprised of granite, rhyolite, and basalt. The Miarolitic cavities of Davib Ost 61, Erongorus 166, and Bergsig 167 are old tin pegmatite prospects that produced some of the more noted green fluorites.
This particular specimen features several large cuboctohedral crystals intergrown over a muscovite capped microcline feldspar. The surface texture and minor purple zoning is owed to etching and resorption during crystallization.
