Datolite - Bor Mine, Dalnegorsk, Dalnegorsk Urban District, Primorsky Krai, Russia
The Bor Quarry has operated since 1958 with its principle commodity being boron, and primary ore being datolite. The locality is also home to the mineral dalnegorskite, a rare pyroxenoid. Often times andradite garnet from Bor Quarry is confused with the more red andradite from Sinerchenskoe (Blue River) nearby.
This specimen is a very uncommon blue, with yellow green core. One of the main crystals displays cleavage during growth, as evident by the recrystallized faces. The cluster displays well naturally.
